Bemidji State University Football Head Coach Jeff Tesch announced today the hiring of Craig Bagnell as the Beavers’ offensive coordinator for the 2015 season. Bagnell enters the position after serving as a graduate assistant coach for BSU during the 2014 season.
In 2014, Bagnell mentored a group of 15 wide receivers that compiled 214 receptions for 2,840 yards and scored 22 touchdowns, which included First Team All-NSIC recipient, Blake Holder.
Prior to arriving at Bemidji State, Bagnell was a quarterback in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference for University of Mary. Bagnell was a four-year starter for the Marauders before graduating in 2013.
Bagnell takes over for Eric Medberry, who stepped down this offseason.
A three-time captain, Bagnell left U-Mary as the school’s all-time leader in passing yards (9,170 yards), touchdowns (75 touchdowns), completions (759) and completion percentage (.620). He also rushed for 462 yards and nine touchdowns.
In 2013, Bagnell was named All-NSIC Honorable Mention while passing for 2,769 yards with 23 touchdowns and only eight interceptions. He also added 202 yards rushing and was named the team’s most valuable player.
After leading the Marauders to the NSIC’s top spot in total offense (447.2 ypg) in 2011, Bagnell was named All-NSIC Second Team and was honored as a 2012 Beyond Sports Network Pre-Season All-American.
