“Sports in the Round”, which is held on Wednesday evenings from 6-8 p.m. at The Ground Round, will this week feature the Bemidji State University men’s hockey team. BSU men’s hockey assistant coach Bert Gilling will be on the show to discuss the play of the men’s hockey team and its upcoming home-and-home series with No. 4 University of Minnesota Duluth.
The No. 14 Bemidji State men’s hockey team (15-5-2) turns its focus from College Hockey America play after splitting a series at Niagra University last weekend to face one of the nation’s hottest teams. This weekend, BSU enters a home-and-home series with Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s top squad, Minnesota Duluth (16-7-1). The nonconference, two-game set gets underway at 7:35 p.m. Friday at BSU’s John Glas Fieldhouse. Saturday the teams hit the ice at the DECC for a 7:07 p.m. opening face off.
Other guests include UMD head men’s hockey coach Scott Sandelin.
Also appearing on the show are Bemidji State’s Beaver Pride Athletes of the Week. This week, the male athlete of the week is freshman forward Brance Orban (Lethbridge, Alberta) from the men’s hockey team. The female athlete is women’s track and field junior sprinter Kristi Buerkle (Stacy, Minn.).
As always, the hosts for the “Sports in the Round” are Brian Schultz, Kelly Schultz and Brian Bissonette. The two-hour program can be heard on WMIS 92.1 The River or online at http://wmisfm.com.
