First of all, the Sports in the Round podcast is up… http://wmisfm.com
Second, the player of the year (MVP) of the league will be announced at the awards banquet tonight. If it’s anybody other than Matt Read, I’d be shocked!
The All-League teams were announced yesterday…
NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – After one of the most competitive College Hockey America seasons ever, the CHA has announced it’s all-conference teams on Wednesday.
The Bemidji State Beavers and Robert Morris Colonials both placed four players on either the first or second team, while Niagara added three players and Alabama-Huntsville added one player.
Earning First Team All-CHA honors are forwards Matt Read (Bemidji State), Chris Moran (Niagara), Nathan Longpre (Robert Morris), along with defensemen Brad Hunt (Bemidji State), Denny Urban (Robert Morris) and goalie Dan Bakala (Bemidji State).
Earning Second Team All-CHA honors are forwards Chris Kushneriuk (Robert Morris), Ian Lowe (Bemidji State), Ryan Olidis (Niagara), along with blueliners Tyler Gotto (Niagara), Dave Cowan (Robert Morris) and goalie Cameron Talbot (Alabama-Huntsville).
The All-CHA teams are voted on by each head coach in the CHA, as well as an assistant coach from each institution. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own respective players. The CHA Player of the Year will be announced on Thursday at the CHA Awards banquet in Niagara Falls, N.Y.
Third…what the hell is a “commemorative paper helmet“…did I miss something? I don’t think I ever saw one at the Frozen Four last year. Then again, not too many in the press box would have worn them!
