The No. 7 Bemidji State University women’s hockey team defeated Ohio State University 6-2, Saturday afternoon to sweep the Buckeyes. Five seniors tallied a point for the Beavers, including Kaitlyn Tougas who tallied three (1g-2a) on a night where the Beavers honored their seniors.
Junior Brittni Mowat earned her 20th win of the season after allowing only two goals on 32 shots and set a new program single-season wins record. Whitney Wivoda joined Mowat in setting new program records for the Beavers as Wivoda played in her 147th career game, besting the previous mark of 146 by Marlee Wheelhouse.
Miller added another goal for the Beavers by scoring 6:27 into the final period and Ohio State’s Maddy Field made it 6-2 with 1:05 left in the game. Mowat made 30 saves for the Beavers while Danczak stopped 15 shots before being replaced by Alex LaMere who made 13 saves.
Bemdiji State will bring the 2015-16 regular season to an end next weekend and will travel to Minnesota State University, Mankato for a WCHA series. The Beavers can clinch the third seed in the WCHA Playoffs if they defeat the Mavericks on Friday.
