This was the first time I had been in Omaha for a long time. I have some relatives (distant) in Omaha, and used to stop there on our way to Wisconsin from California quite often.

Boy, has that town gotten big!

The arena is HUGE. It seats some 15,000 for basketball…and with Dean Blais at the helm, I’m sure they’ll fill the place for hockey soon.

Since the hotel was right across the street from the rink, I didn’t get much of a chance to explore the town…but I did find a little dive bar after the Friday night game. They had “old school” night…buckets of Old Mil, Old Style, and Schlitz for $5! Oh, the good ‘ol days!
