Vanessa Rae Lopez placed 17th to pace the Bemidji State University cross country team to sixth place at the Bob Waxlax Invitational Saturday in Sauk Rapids, Minn.
Lopez completed the 6,000-meter race 23:28.4, 1:40.5 after the individual champion, Samantha Sundstrom of St. Cloud State University crossed the finish line.
In addition to Lopez, Sarone Paulzine placed 39th (24:54.4) and Jane Austin (25:35.9) and Madison Kealy (25:51.1) rounded out the top 50 individuals.
The Beavers finished the day with 161 points and an average time of 25.20.
Winona State University one the team title posting a score of 31, placing four runners among the top 10, and averaged a time of 22:53.
The Beavers now turn their focus to Sioux Falls, S.D. and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship. The 6,000-meter race is set for 11:15 a.m. at Yankton Trails Golf Club.
