After helping lead the Bemidji State University men’s golf team to a first-place finish at the BSU Invite Tuesday, freshman Ian Mackenzie-Olson was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Golfer of the Week.

The Wayzata, Minn., native took first individually following the two-day BSU Invite with a five-under-par performance. He finished at 139, shooting 71 on the first day and 68 on the second. Mackenzie-Olson finished two strokes ahead of second place and was one of seven golfers to shoot under par.

Mackenzie-Olson also tied for fifth at the Cobber Invite with rounds of 74 and 77 Sept. 9 and 10. He tied for the top golfer on the BSU squad with a finish of seven-over-par. Mackenzie-Olson finished four strokes behind first place.

The Beavers hit the course again Sept. 18-19 at the Northeastern Oklahoma Invitational in Tahlequad, Okla.
