Soccer to host Minot State and UMary riding six-match NSIC unbeaten streak

The Bemidji State University soccer team will host Minot State University and University of Mary this weekend in a special weekend of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matchups.

Bemidji State will open the weekend with a battle of the Beavers in a 3 p.m. match against Minot State, Friday. Sunday at 1 p.m., the Beavers host the Marauders in a breast cancer awareness match, sponsored by the Edith Sanford Breast Center and Sanford Health, and will honor their six seniors prior to the matchup.

Seniors, Tia Neuharth, Toni Bailey, Emily Kos, Sidney Bethke, Melanie Peltier and Skylar Prentice have been a part of a NSIC regular season title, a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances and 53 victories. Sioux Falls, S.D. native, Peltier, has contributed 12 assists to the BSU offense and is ranked 8th in assists all time. Neuharth and Kos sit in the BSU record book for minutes played, 5,582 and 5,111, respectively.

The Beavers come into the weekend 6-2-1 and 5-0-1 in NSIC play after road wins last weekend against University of Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State University to extend their winning streak to five matches. BSU earned a shutout against USF, 1-0, and took SMSU, 3-1.

Sophomore Sara Wendt has led the BSU attach this year. Through mine matches she has a team-best five goals, has recorded a point in each of BSU’s last five matches and enters the weekend having logged a goal in BSU’s last three, which included a pair of game-winners.
