Beaver Fever Friday – Zoe Carrasco – Track

Bemidji State University track & field junior thrower Zoe Carrasco makes her second championship appearance of the year at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 29 at the 2021 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Allendale, Mich.

Carrasco is one of 17 student-athletes in the shot put, which begins at 4 p.m. from the Grand Valley State University Track & Field Complex. She is BSU’s first national qualifier in the shot put since Sheena Devine in 2008. Carrasco earned All-American accolades over the past two indoor seasons and is seeking the first outdoor All-America honor of her career.

CARRASCO SEASON IN REVIEW
Carrasco clinched the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Track & Field title in the shot put with a Bemidji State outdoor record throw of 15.54 meters (51-feet-0.00 inches). The throw qualified her for U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Central Region honors, holding the third-best throw in the region. Carrasco enters the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships ranked fifth nationally in the event.

Carrasco surpasses the NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the shot put six times through the outdoor season. In addition to shot put, Carrasco set BSU’s top five hammer throw marks all-time, including the program record 55.28m (181-04.00). She recorded 13 top-five finishes through the outdoor season, including seven event wins between shot put, hammer throw and discus.
