VIDEO – Beaver Fever Friday – Matt Prapevessis – Mens Hockey

Brendan Harms (F, So., Steinbach, Manitoba) scored twice and Markus Gerbrandt (F, Jr., Edmonton, Alberta) added a goal and an assist as the Bemidji State University men’s hockey team downed No 2 University of North Dakota, 5-1, for its first victory in Grand Forks since Feb. 7, 1970.

It took the Beavers just 11:26 to find the scoreboard, and the veteran squad showed the nationally-ranked hosts just what they were made of. With Phillip Marinaccio (F, So., Nobleton, Ontario) in the penalty box for Hooking, the BSU penalty-kill unit put the Beavers up 1-0. Harms ripped his first goal of the season in from the right face off dot to give Bemidji State a lead it would never relinquish.

The Beavers, now 1-1-0 on in 2014-15, are idle next week before traveling to Minneapolis, Minn. to battle top-ranked University of Minnesota at Mariucci Arena, Oct. 24-25. Both games are set for 7 p.m. opening face offs.
