Day Off…Part II

Rossario’s in Monona, Wisconsin was AMAZING! I have never had a dining experience quite like it and I’m sure our team and staff would agree. This may go down in history as the most memorable road trip meal that the BSU women’s hockey team has ever experienced.

We arrived at Rossario’s after the team practiced at the Kohl Center and waited briefly in the cozy entryway. When the hostess took us to our tables, there were “oohs” and “aahs” from everyone. It was a site unseen by most of us. There were two long tables with spaghetti and meatballs slapped down directly from one end to the other end. No bowls, no plates. Just forks, knives, salad bowls, baskets of bread, glasses for water and lots of napkins. It didn’t take long for the Beavers to pull their food to their place settings using the pasta forks provided. I was sitting next to freshman Allie Duellman and athletic trainer Bill Crews. Junior Kim Lieder and sophomore Molly Arola sat across from us. It didn’t take long before senior Annie Bauerfeld took advantage of the setting and started tossing slices of bread down the table to those asking for it, while other members of the team were stealing meatballs from the other end of the table’s pile of pasta.

I found out from Coach Sertich that this restaurant has been open since the early 1970s. It turns out coach had eaten at Rossario’s during the early part of his hockey playing career. The same family owns the restaurant today.

I have a feeling that the BSU men’s hockey team would enjoy this restaurant as much as we did.

Enjoy the pictures from Rossario’s!

Bon Appetite!
