The Bemidji State University women’s basketball program closes the 2018-19 season series versus Minnesota State University Moorhead and Northern State University on the road Jan. 11-12. The Beavers open the weekend Friday at 5:30 p.m. against the Dragons before wrapping up its slate Saturday at 4 p.m. against the Wolves.
MSU Moorhead leads the all-time series against Bemidji State, 68-39. MSUM has won 14 straight games against BSU, dating back to Feb. 11, 2012. BSU’s most recent win came Dec. 2, 2011, a 75-68 victory. The Dragons won the first game versus the Beavers this season, 72-47, Dec. 8, 2018 in Bemidji, Minn.
Freshman guard Shea Oman led BSU in scoring with a career-high 11 points off the bench, shooting 4-for-8 from the field. Sophomore guard Brooklyn Bachmann followed with 10 points while leading the team with 28 minutes on the court.
The series began in 1968, a 36-35 win by MSU Moorhead. During the women’s program’s first season in 1967-68, BSU and MSUM played three times. The series is the longest between Bemidji State and any other opponent at 107 games.
Northern State leads the all-time series against Bemidji State, 58-10. NSU has won 11 straight games against BSU, dating back to Dec. 14, 2013. BSU’s most recent win came Jan. 26, 2013, a 64-57 decision. The Wolves won the first meeting of the season, 69-57, in Bemidji.
Bachmann led BSU with a season-high 19 points on 8-of-18 shooting from the field. Sophomore guard Maria Appicelli followed Bachmann as the only other Beaver with double-digit scoring at 12 points.
The series began Jan. 24, 1986, a 77-74 win by Northern State.
