University of Minnesota Duluth took a 1-0 series lead over the Bemidji State University women’s hockey team Friday afternoon after the Bulldogs (14-15-4, 9-11-4 WCHA) earned a 3-2 victory over the Beavers (13-20-2, 10-12-2 WCHA). Bemidji State attempted to overcome a two-goal deficit after the first period off a goal by senior Emily Bergland in the second period but Minnesota Duluth answered with a goal in the third to clinch the victory. Bemidji State will attempt to extend its season Saturday afternoon when they face the Bulldogs for game two at 2:07 p.m.
