Eight Beavers complete 6K at Roy Griak Invitational
Eight student athletes completed the 6,000-meter Roy Griak Invitational in Falcon Heights, Minn., Saturday, Sept. 28 as the Bemidji State University cross country program took 20th overall. Sophomore Ryne Prigge led the Beavers with a 60th-place finish and time of 24:03.1.
Prigge improved on her overall finish from the same event a year ago, jumping up 19 spots to 60th. Senior Kristen Petron followed Prigge for the second consecutive meet with a 132nd-place time of 25:08.7. Lily Johnson is one of three BSU freshmen to run in their first career 6K event as she took 183rd with a time of 25:49.6. Fellow freshman Emma Realing took 203rd with a time of 26:08.5 while sophomore Allyna Storms followed in 216th with a time of 26:21.6.
Freshman Mckenzie Evans finished five spots behind Storms in 221st with a time of 26:23.6. Junior Ashley Herdering took 256th with a time of 27:09.1 while junior Carissa Decko rounded out the NCAA Division II and III field with a time of 43:02.1.
The Beavers will run in their final regular season meet of the season Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Disney Cross Country Classic in Orlando, Fla.
