Track & Field takes four wins at Ron Masanz Classic on Saturday

Four Bemidji State University track & field student-athletes brought home first-place finishes Saturday as the team completed the Ron Masanz Classic held in Moorhead, Minn. In total, BSU ended with nine top-five finishes while junior Zoe Carrasco hit two NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks.

Carrasco earned a win in the shot put with a toss of 14.31 meters (46-feet-11.50-inches), her third NCAA DII provisional mark of the season, and took fourth in the hammer throw with a mark of 52.76m (173-01.25), her fourth provisional mark in the event this season. After setting the hammer throw record during her first three meets of the season, she recorded the fourth-best mark in program history at the Masanz Classic. Carrasco also set the ninth-best shot put mark during the meet.

Freshman Alaina Hall earned a first-place finish in the 100m dash with a time of 12.17, 0.05 off her personal best. Hall was also a part of the 4x100m relay team including sophomore Janice Cole, senior Jada Barker and sophomore Kendra Ekereke that brought home a win with a time of 48.97.

Junior Coley Rezabek took part in her first meet of the outdoor season at the Masanz Classic and won the javelin with a personal record throw of 40.76m (133-08.75), which is just over one meter shy of the NCAA DII provisional qualifying mark. The throw ranks second in BSU outdoor history.

Cole took two second place finishes in the sprints with two personal record times, 25.10 in the 200m dash and 57.35 in the 400m dash. Freshman Emily Curtice also brought home a second place finish in the javelin with a personal record throw of 39.81m (130-07.50).

Junior Reygan Brown set the second-best triple jump in program history with a fifth-place leap of 11.40m (37-05.00).

In total, Bemidji State saw 27 personal records set on the day.
