BSU heads to NSIC Indoor Track & Field Championships Feb. 25-26
Bemidji State University track & field will travel to Mankato, Minn., Feb. 25-26 to compete at the 2022 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Minnesota State University, Mankato. The Beavers open competition at 12 p.m. Friday before a 9 a.m. start-time Saturday at Myers Field House.
Bemidji State earned its first team win of the season Saturday, Feb. 19 beating out six teams at the UND Indoor Tune-Up in Grand Forks, N.D. The Beavers finished the day with four event wins and 20 top-five finishes.
The Beavers’ four event wins included Kendra Ekereke in the 200-meter dash, Maryse Mbenoun in the 400m dash, Ryne Prigge in the 800m run and the 4x400m relay team of Rachel Myers, Janice Cole, Skyler Tillery and Mbenoun.
Ekereke took the top billing in the 200m dash with a personal record time of 26.02 as Beavers swept the top four spots. Shackera Douglas took second with a personal record time of 26.08, followed by Sarah Hill in third with a time of 26.69 and Makayla Lewis in fourth with a time of 27.12.
BSU also took three of the top five spots in the 400m dash, led by Mbenoun in first with a personal record time of 58.57. Rachel Myers followed in second with a personal record time of 58.59 while Abby Syverson took fifth with a personal record time of 1:01.04.
Prigge won the 800m run with a time of 2:22.56, while Zoey Mills took third with a personal record time of 2:29.72 and Amanda Hernesman in fourth with a personal record time of 2:37.51.
BSU’s 4x400m relay team finished the event with a winning time of 4:09.66.
In total, the Beavers set 22 personal records during the meet.
