Beaver Softball heads to Missouri for final non-conference tournament
The Bemidji State University softball team concludes the non-conference portion of its schedule this weekend by traveling to St. Joseph, Mo., to compete in the Fairfield Inn and Suites Classic hosted my Missouri Western State University.
After a projected forecast of rain on Friday, March 18, the Beavers will now play an altered schedule beginning Saturday, March 19. BSU will face Missouri Western State for a doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m. The Beavers will conclude play in Missouri Sunday with games against Nebraska-Kearney and Wisconsin Parkside beginning at 9 a.m.
The Beavers are 3-13 to start its 2021-22 season and have lost their last eight games.
Freshman Alexa Christenson leads the Beavers at the plate and is batting .302 with 16 hits. She leads the team with five doubles and two triples and is tied for second on the team with six RBI. She is followed by fellow freshman Mariah Stevenson who is batting .293 with 12 hits and has totaled four doubles. A total of five Beavers are hitting above .250 so far this season.
Bemidji State is led in the circle by sophomore Stella Dolan who has pitched in 55 innings and has compiled a 2-6 record with a 4.20 ERA and leads the team with 30 strikeouts. She is followed by redshirt sophomore Kyla Damerow who has pitched 25 innings and senior Kaidron McClafferty who has pitched 23 innings and paces the Beavers with a 3.35 ERA.
