Dewy Donat Classic awaits Beaver Outdoor Track & Field April 22-23
Bemidji State University outdoor track & field will send its full squad to the Dewy Donat Classic on April 22-23, hosted by Northern State University on Al Sahli Track in Aberdeen, S.D.
Facing chilly conditions at the Tomcat Twilight in St. Paul, Minn., Wednesday evening, Bemidji State earned three event wins and saw three top 10 program marks set.
The Beavers’ three event wins all came in sprint events, including sophomore Alaina Hall with a time of 12.28 in the 100-meter dash, junior Janice Cole with a time of 59.39 in the 400m dash and the 4x100m relay team of Cole, Hall, freshman Shackera Douglas and junior Kendra Ekereke with a time of 47.87. The 4x100m relay time was good enough for 10th-fastest in BSU outdoor program history.
Also setting top 10 program marks were junior Anastasia Klein in the pole vault, who finished ninth in the event with a mark of 10-10.00. Her vault ranks tied for sixth all-time for BSU outdoors while senior Mathea Brink set the 10th-fastest time in program history in the 5,000m run with a time of 19:40.24. Brink finished 21st in the event Wednesday.
BSU finished with 11 top-five finishes, including second-place finishes from Ekereke in the 100m dash with a personal record time of 12.44 and freshman Makayla Lewis with a time of 26.32 in the 200m dash.
The Beavers also saw 11 personal records broken at the meet.
