No. 24 Beaver Soccer travels to Mankato for conclusion of NSIC Soccer Tournament as BSU Women’s Soccer faces Augustana in semifinals of NSIC Women’s Soccer Tournament

The No. 24 Bemidji State University Women’s Soccer team continues its postseason run this weekend and travels to Mankato, Minn., for the semifinal and championship rounds of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament Nov. 4 and 6.

The Beavers begin the weekend by facing Augustana University in the semifinal round Friday, Nov. 4 at 11:00 a.m., from the campus of Minnesota State University, Mankato. The championship match will be played Sunday, Nov. 6 at 1:00 p.m., and will feature the winner of the Beavers and Vikings match against either No. 12 Minnesota State or Minot State University.

Bemidji State will attempt to win the program’s first NSIC Women’s Soccer Tournament championship in its 27-year history.

The Beavers enter the weekend as the No. 24 team in the United Soccer Coaches’ Division II top-25 poll and are third in the NCAA Central Region rankings announced by the NCAA.

Bemidji State is 9-7-4 all-time against the Vikings and have won its last three meetings including earlier this season on Sept. 23 in Sioux Falls, S.D. Graduate student Allyson Smith scored the lone goal in the 1-0 victory for the Beavers while senior Alyssa Stumbaugh denied all six shots by the Vikings.

Earlier this week eight members of the Bemidji State Women’s Soccer team were named All-NSIC selections highlighted by fifth-year senior Megan Dahl who earned back-to-back NSIC Defensive Player of the Year honors. Dahl was joined by Halle Peterson, Allyson Smith and Sara Wendt on the All-NSIC First Team while Erin Becker, Megan Majewski, Maria Stocke and Alyssa Stumbaugh were named to the second team.

Bemidji State is 12-2-5 on the season and finished second in the NSIC standings with a 10-1-4 league record. The Beavers are led by fifth-year senior Sara Wendt who has totaled 20 points off nine goals and two assists to tie for fifth in the NSIC in scoring. Her nine goals this season are tied for second.

Following the conclusion of the NSIC Women’s Soccer Tournament, the Beavers await their fate in the NCAA Women’s Soccer Regional Tournament. Currently ranked third in the NCAA Regional Rankings, the Beavers will look to earn a bid in the NCAA Selection Show streamed online Monday, Nov. 7 at 6:00 p.m. CT at NCAA.com.
