Bemidji State Track and Field to begin indoor season at Chuck Peterson Open

First of two meets in December

The Bemidji State University Track and Field team will begin the new indoor season this coming Saturday in Mankato competing in the Chuck Peterson Open beginning at 11 a.m. This will be the first of two meets in December, as the Beavers will travel to Duluth next Saturday (Dec. 9) for the St. Scholastica Open.

Last year, Bemidji State began the indoor season in Duluth at the St. Scholastica Opener. This will be the first time BSU has opened the indoor season at Mankato since the 2007-08 season.

Bemidji State will have nine meets on the schedule during the regular season before the NSIC Championships arrive on Feb. 23-24 in Mankato. January will see the Beavers travel to Wisconsin for the Yellowjacket Open on Jan. 20. To close the month, Bemidji State will compete in the UND Open on Jan. 26.

In February, another trip back to Duluth will begin things on Feb. 3 at the Lake Superior Challenge. Two different meets on the same date will arrive on Feb. 9 as the Beavers will have the chance to compete in both the SDSU Indoor Challenge and the Maverick Premier #1 & #2. A home meet back in Bemidji on Feb. 16 will be the BSU Twilight. The final regular season meet will happen a day later on Feb. 17 at the UND Tune Up. February will end with the Beavers competing in the NSIC Championships.

This year’s team returns a lot from the 2022-23 squad that has Lexi Erickson, Tierra Doss and Janie Cole back as graduate student-athletes. Abby Syverson, Carol Miller, Mary Goodwin and Natalie Fultz will be back as seniors. A pair of juniors return in Olivia Olson and Nadia Vaughn. A big group of sophomores are back from their freshmen campaigns in Cassidy Schmidt, Molly Saboo, Callie Ressler, Zayda Priebe, Maggie McCarthy, Gabrielle Marks, Alyssa Hill, Abbie Disbrow and Josie Aitken.

New to the team this year includes a pair of transfers from Wisconsin-Superior in junior Emma Erickson and sophomore Hannah Baker. Then there will be seven freshmen on the team including Emma Hochhalter, Carmen Lyon, Sydnie Price and Hadley Stuehrenberg from the cross country team. Joining them will be Harmony Heath, Zoe Lennon and Millie Roesaeg.
