Beavers claim five top-five finishes to highlight two-day UND Open
Goodwin wins 3,000-meter on Saturday
Following the opening day of the UND Open in which Tierra Doss placed runner-up in the discus and broke her own program record, the Bemidji State University Track and Field team turned in another solid day on Saturday. Mary Goodwin won the 3,000-meter and the Beavers added four other top-five finishes over the two-day meet.
Natalie Fultz competed in the high jump again on Saturday placing third clearing 5-1.
Janice Cole, Abbie Disbrow and Gabrielle Wilson all competed in the 60-meter prelims. Cole qualified for the final with a time of 7.92. Disbrow posted a time of 8.26 and Wilson at 9.51. Then in the final, Cole placed sixth with a time of 7.91.
Wilson competed in the 60-meter hurdles prelims posting a time of 12.23.
Josie Aitken posted a time of 27.77 to come in 33rd in the 200-meter.
Cole and Aitken both entered the 400-meter. Cole came in sixth with a time of 59.31 and Aitken crossed in 10th with a time of 1:01.10.
Abby Syverson added a top-five result in the 600-meter posting a time of 1:42.48 to come in fifth.
Maggie McCarthy kept the top-five results going as she placed fourth with a time of 3:15.44 in the 1,000-meter.
Carol Miller led five Beavers in the mile adding a top-three finish placing third with a time of 5:33.25. Nadia Vaughn just missed a top-five finish coming in sixth with a time of 5:47.32. Carmen Lyon placed 12th (6:07.13), Hadley Stuehrenberg came in 13th (6:07.90) and Sydnie Price placed 15th (6:13.53).
Goodwin won the 3,000-meter posting a time of 10:09.54.
Cole and Disbrow both competed in the long jump with Cole hitting a distance of 17-3.50 to come in eighth and Disbrow with a mark of 16-6.50 to place 15th.
Olivia Olson came in fifth in the pole vault clearing 10-0.
Doss led eight Beavers in the shot put placing sixth with a throw of 42-3.25. Mikenna Pattrin was right behind in eighth reaching 40-11. Emma Erickson placed 19th (34-0), Zayda Priebe came in 26th (32-5), Cassidy Schmidt in 35th (30-9.75), Hannah Baker in 37th (29-9.50), Molly Saboo in 41st (27-8.25) and Zoe Lennon placed 43rd (26-4.25).
Pattrin led five Beavers in the weight throw placing eighth with a throw of 50-10.75. Erickson came in 14th with a mark of 44-9.50. Schmidt placed 22nd (39-4.50), Baker came in 31st (35-9.25) and Lennon in 37th (28-4.25).
Disbrow finished the meet competing in the triple jump placing 10th with a mark of 32-0.75.
Bemidji State will travel to Duluth next Saturday to compete in the Lake Superior Challenge.
