Beavers fall in final non-conference doubleheader at Northwest Missouri State

BSU Softball falls 9-0 and 14-5 to Missouri Western State

The Bemidji State University Softball team fell in both games of its final non-conference doubleheader Sunday afternoon in Maryville, Mo., against Northwest Missouri State University. The Beavers fell in a close 4-2 game in game one then fell 6-0 in game two.

The Beavers end the non-conference season with a 6-17 record and begin Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action this weekend with a road trip Southwest Minnesota State University and Concordia University- St. Paul.

Senior Molly Houts led the Beavers in game one going 3-for-3 at the plate with three base hits, an RBI and drew one walk. The Beavers totaled eight hits in the game but came across the plate just twice. Five other Beavers recorded a hit.

Senior Stella Dolan pitched a six-inning complete game but earned the loss (5-8) after allowing four runs off nine hits, walked one and struck out seven.

The Beavers were held to four hits in game two with sophomore Aubrey Aukerman collecting two and went 2-for-3 at the plate. Jackie Larsen and Avery Amidon collected the other two hits for BSU.

Freshman Danica Sarff started the game in the circle and pitched 2.1 innings allowing five runs (three earned) off just two hits but walked seven. She was replaced by sophomore Elle Hastings who pitched 3.2 innings and allowed just one run, five hits, walked five and struck out three.

The Beavers will open NSIC play this week with doubleheaders at Southwest Minnesota State and Concordia St. Paul Sunday and Monday.
