BSU Softball shifts home opener to Sioux Falls
Beavers travel to Sioux Falls, S.D., for doubleheader with Cougars
The Bemidji State University home-opening series will have to wait just a bit longer as snow has moved the Beavers’ series with University of Sioux Falls to Sioux Falls, S.D., Friday afternoon. The Beavers and Cougars will now play doubleheader Friday, March 29 at 1 p.m. at The Diamonds in Sioux Falls.
Bemidji State heads to Sioux Falls with an 8-19 record and are 2-2 in league play after sweeping Southwest Minnesota State University but fell in two games against Concordia University-St. Paul earlier this week.
The Cougars enter the doubleheader with a 11-14 overall record and are also 2-2 in league play to start the conference season.
Bemidji State is led on offense by freshman Jackie Larsen who is batting .352 and has posted an OPS of .766 after totaling a slugging percentage of .394 and on-base percentage of .372. Three Beavers are batting over .300 on the season with junior Alexa Christenson following Larsen with a .341 average and senior Molly Houts follows with a .324 average.
Larsen also paces the Beavers with 14 RBI while Alexa Christenson follows with 13 and sophomore Aubrey Aukerman has added 12. Larsen’s eight stolen bases this season are tied for the ninth most in the NSIC.
Senior Stella Dolan leads Beaver pitchers totaling 105 innings pitched in 20 appearances already this season. She leads the conference in innings pitched and is 11th in the nation with 12 complete games. She is tied for 12th in DII in innings pitched. Dolan has posted a 6-9 record in the circle so far this season and has an ERA of 4.00 and is sixth in the NSIC with 62 strikeouts.
Dolan is followed by sophomore Elle Hastings who has pitched 40.0 innings and is 1-4 with a 9.28 ERA and has collected 20 strikeouts.
