Beaver Softball prepares to host first home series of the season Tuesday

BSU Softball hosts Minnesota Duluth at Chet Anderson Stadium Tuesday afternoon

The Bemidji State University Softball Team will make its home debut tomorrow afternoon when it hosts University of Minnesota Duluth for a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader at Chet Anderson Stadium.

The Beavers (8-21, 2-4 NSIC) host the Bulldogs (21-10, 2-4 NSIC) for a conference doubleheader beginning with game one at 2 p.m., followed by game two at 4 p.m.

Bemidji State will be looking to end a four-game losing streak after opening conference play with a sweep of Southwest Minnesota State University. It is coming off being swept by University of Sioux Falls in two close games Friday (March 29) in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The Beavers and Bulldogs enter Tuesday’s doubleheader both tied for 10th in the NSIC standings with a 2-4 league record. BSU is 10th in the league having scored 104 runs this season and 10th with a team batting average .270.

Junior Alexa Christenson leads the team and is batting .347 with 33 hits in 95 at bats. Her 14 RBI this season is tied for second on the team while her 11 walks leads the team. Freshman Jackie Larsen follows batting .333 with 26 hits in 78 at bats, has 14 RBI and leads the team and is 10th in the conference with eight stolen bases. Sophomore Aubrey Aukerman paces the team with 15 RBI and is batting .294 with 25 hits in 85 at bats.

The Beavers are led by senior Stella Dolan in the circle who has pitched a league-leading 112 innings and is 14th in DII. Her 13 complete games this season also leads the league and is tied for 14th in the nation. She has compiled a 6-10 record in 21 appearances and 15 starts and has posted a 4.06 ERA. She has struck out 66 batters this season, the ninth most in the NSIC and recently became the just the fourth Beaver to reach 300 career strikeouts (313).

She is followed by sophomore Elle Hastings who has pitched 44.2 innings and is 1-5 in 13 appearances making eight starts. She has compiled a 9.09 ERA with one complete game and 23 strikeouts.
