Beavers return to Sioux Falls for pair of doubleheaders against Cougars
BSU Baseball faces Sioux Falls for four-game league series beginning Friday
The Bemidji State University Baseball team makes a return trip to Sioux Falls, S.D., this weekend for a four-game Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference series to face University of Sioux Falls at The Birdcage. The Beavers and Cougars will play two doubleheaders Friday, April 5 and Saturday after forecasted weather moved up their series.
Friday’s doubleheader begins at 1:30 p.m., with a seven-inning game and followed with a nine-inning game at 3:30. The Beavers then finish the series Saturday with another doubleheader beginning at Noon.

The Beavers (1-25, 0-16 NSIC) return to action this weekend after a series loss against Southwest Minnesota State University last weekend in Brandon, S.D., where they dropped all four games, coming close in the last game losing 6-8.
Sioux Falls (15-11, 8-8 NSIC) currently sits eighth in the NSIC standings and were last in action on Tuesday, pulling off a 13-7 non-conference win against Dakota Wesleyan. The Cougars return to NSIC action this weekend having last played St. Cloud State last weekend in which they dropped three out of the four games played.
The Beavers are led by junior Zach Evenson who is batting .278 on the season with 20 hits in 72 at bats. He is tied for second on the team with his eight RBIs and leads the team with a .825 OPS and three homers. Freshman Matt Fillipi has been hot for the Beavers hitting .272 with 22 hits in 81 at bats to go along with seven RBIs and a .820 OPS. He has also proven a threat on the bases with a team leading five stolen bases in six attempts. Senior Jack Munson leads the team with nine RBIs along with seven doubles and is batting .258. Freshman Beau Thoma paces the team with a six-game reached base streak and is batting .259 with 21 hits in 81 at bats.
