First, a ceremonial bust unveiling at the Sanford Center for a longtime coach. The next day, BSU Football is involved with the Shriners Screening Clinic for kids. It sure is fun to be a BSU Beavers fan!

Thursday night at the Sanford Center, BSU Hockey and the Peters family celebrated the life of RH “Bob” Peters who passed away in December of 2021. Thursday night, BSU fans gathered at the Sanford Center for the unveiling of a bust, sculpted by Nick Legeros, a Twins Cities Artist commissioned to created the lifelike version of Bob Peters that will forever be displayed in the main lobby of the Sanford Center.

Several hundred supporters came to see the unveiling, and to celebrate what RH has meant to Bemidji State. Speakers included Tom Serratore and Steve Peters, son of RH and Mary Lou. Stories were shared with those in attendance to show why this man is still impactful to Bemidji, Bemidji State, and Beaver Hockey.

Inside of the bust, are several pucks from historic games in RH’s coaching career, a pin from the BSU Hockey Camp era, and a list of EVERY player that played for Bemidji State Mens Hockey during RH’s long coaching career.

Think about that…inside of a sculpted bronze bust, that will last for roughly one thousand years longer than for Sanford Center will be standing, is a list of names. Names of those that have made Beaver Hockey what it is today!

Moving to day, yet another event that makes being a Beavers fan so much fun. BSU Football has played a Shrine Football game for nearly 25 years. The Shriners do some amazing work. They provide medical care for kids with orthopedic, bone, burn, or cleft pallet…FOR FREE!

A kids screening clinic will be held on Friday at Sanford Bemidji Orthopedic and Sports Medicine. The Shriners Doctors want to see your kids there. They want to help you, and your family by allowing your kid to live a “normal” kids life. They provide these services for free. When was the last time you saw a doctor…much less had life changing surgery to fix a major issue…and didn’t have to worry about getting the bill for that surgery?

The Headwaters Shrine Club of Bemidji will sponsor this clinic for children from 9am to noon on Friday, September 13th, at the Sanford Bemidji Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Clinic, just west of the hospital on Anne Street.
