Cross Country travels to Moorhead for Dragon Twilight
The Beavers set to race in MSUM’s annual Dragon Twilight at Nemzek Stadium
The Bemidji State University Cross Country team travels to Moorhead, Minn. Friday, Sep. 13 to race in Minnesota State University’s annual Dragon Twilight. The 5,000-meter race is set to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. from Nemzek Stadium.
Last week, the Beavers raced in the Toni St. Pierre Invitational, hosted by College of St. Benedict. The team took seventh place overall with a score of 169. The Beavers were led by Carol Miller who tabbed a time of 20:03.8 and landed in 24th place. Behind Miller was freshman Abigail Namukwaya who placed 37th in her first collegiate race with a time of 20:27.3.
The Beavers took 4th place during last year’s Dragon Twilight, where the team ran the 4,000-meter race. Carol Miller took 23rd during this race with a 15:15.30 time, around 36 seconds faster than her time set the year prior at the same race. This time landed Miller in fifth position in BSU’s all-time record books for the 4k race. Nadia Vaughn also landed in the top 10 of BSU’s record books with her 15:45.30 time in the same race, grabbing ninth place in the record book and 34th at the invitational.
Following this race, the Beavers will head to Minot, N.D. to race in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preview on Oct. 4, a 6,000-meter race hosted by Minot State University. They’ll then compete in the Bob Waxlax Invitational, hosted by St. Cloud State University, on Oct. 9 before starting the NSIC and NCAA Championship series runs. All of the remaining races are at distances of 6,000-meters.
