The Bemidji State University Women’s Soccer team returns home for a brief amount of time this weekend and hosts University of Minnesota Crookston Friday, Sept. 20 before hitting the road and traveling to face St. Cloud State University, Sunday.
The Beavers (2-2-0, 0-0-0 NSIC) open Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play against the Golden Eagles (0-2-1, 0-0-0 NSIC) Friday followed by another conference matchup against the Huskies (3-1-0, 0-0-0 NSIC) Sunday. Kick-off against UMC is slated for 4 p.m., at Chet Anderson Stadium while the Beavers will face-off against SCSU at 1 p.m., Sunday at Husky Stadium.
The Beavers are returning after a successful trip to Fayette, Iowa where they went 2-0-0 in non-conference play last weekend. They opened the weekend with a 2-1 comeback victory over Quincy University after they scored twice in the 76th and 78th minutes. BSU’s offense then exploded for a five-goal outing the following Sunday with a 5-1 victory over Upper Iowa University.
Junior forward Katrina Barthelt led the Beavers scoring three goals including the equalizing goal on Friday and recorded her third career two-goal match on Sunday. She was named the NSIC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career.
