Beavers host Mavericks and Golden Bears on Alumni Weekend

BSU kicks off Alumni Weekend with No. 7 MSU and CSP

Bemidji State University soccer is set to host No. 7 Minnesota State University Mankato and Concordia University, St. Paul Friday and Sunday for BSU’s Hall of Fame and Alumni Weekend. Friday’s match against MSU is set for 5 p.m. while CSP will be a 1 p.m. matinee matchup.

The 8-4-3 Beavers have tied their last three matches at 1-1 against University of Mary, Wayne State College and Augustana University. Prior to this streak, the Beavers fell to the Minot State University Beavers, 1-0, breaking a five-match win streak that began with a 1-0 victory over the University of Sioux Falls Cougars on Sep. 29.

The nationally ranked Mavericks shutout the Beavers, 4-0, last season in Mankato. The Beavers’ record in the series sits at 4-15-4 with BSU’s most recent win happening during a two-overtime win in the second preliminary round of the NCAA Central Region Tournament on Nov. 13, 2022. This season, the Mavericks have marked a 10-1-5 record with 9-0-3 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. Most recently, MSU tied Northern State University with zero goals scored on Oct. 27 for MSU’s family weekend. The Mavericks will travel to Crookston, Minn. Sunday to take on the University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles.

Taking on the Golden Bears Sunday, the Beavers hold the series advantage at 14-10-3 with an 8-4 record on home turf. Last season the pair tied on Oct. 27 with both teams unable to find the net. This season, CSP has marked a 9-3-3 record and 7-3-1 in NSIC contests. The Golden Bears are on a four-match win streak, shutting out three of four opponents in the past two weeks. CSP will take on Minnesota Crookston Friday before heading to Bemidji. Following this weekend, the Golden Bears host Sioux Falls for their final regular-season match.

The Beavers close out the regular season Thursday with a trip to Duluth, Minn. to take on the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs at 5 p.m. The NSIC Tournament begins Monday Nov. 11, and the Beavers currently take up the sixth spot in the conference. The top four teams in the NSIC will earn home-pitch advantages for the first round of the tournament.
