The Bemidji State women’s hockey team added five to its 2013-14 season Monday. Joining the Beavers are two players from Minnesota and three from Canada.
Lauren Miller is a 5’7″ forward from Brockville, Ontario. She competed in the 2012 Canadian Under-18 National Championships for Team Ontario Red and helped guide her team to a bronze medal. Already this season, she has recorded 10 goals and four assists in 18 games.
Madison Hutchinson is a 5’8 defender from Manitou, Manitoba. She plays for the Pembina Valley Hawks of the Manitoba Female Midget AAA Hockey League and was name the MVP of the league after an 85-point season. Helped Team Manitoba to a silver medal at the 2012 Under-18 nationals.
Carley Esse is a 5’8″ defender from Cloquet, Minnesota. She becomes the third BSU player from Cloquet. She is the captain of her Lumberjacks high school team and comes from a hockey family. Her dad (David) is a legendary coach for the Cloquet boys high school team.
Ciscely Nelson is a 5’7″ forward from Roseau, Minnesota. She scored two assists in a Roseau High School win over the Bemidji Lumberjacks at the Sanford Center on November, 21, 2012 at the Sanford Center. Recorded 44 points during the 2011-12 season.
Brittni Mowat is a 5’7″ goaltender from Glenboro, Manitoba. Like Madison Hutchinson, Brittni played for the gold medal at the Esso Cup in 2012. In 16 games this season, she has a record of 10-4-2, along with a 1.00 goals against average, a .959 save percentage and five shutouts.
