Bemidji State will open its season against Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan this weekend.

Bemidji State University Women’s Basketball travels to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan Friday and Saturday to open the 2024-25 season. The Beavers will take on the Michigan Technological University Huskies Friday at 3 p.m. CST and Northern Michigan University Wildcats at 2 p.m. CST Saturday.

The Beavers open their season against Michigan Tech Friday and Northern Michigan Saturday.

Last season, Bemidji State went 6-20 overall with a 3-19 record in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

BSU started out last season with a 71-52 victory over the College of St. Scholastica on Nov. 11.

Returning for the Beavers this year is one of last season’s top guards and newly minted Co-Captain, Erin Barrette. Barrette marked starts in all 26 games for BSU, tabbing 119 points and 57 assists with 26 steals. She marked the team’s high in assists and averaged 2.2 per game.

Barrette’s Co-Captains Alayna Suprenand and Tieryn Plasch also appeared in every game last year, combining for just short of 200 points, 199 to be exact with Suprenand finding 115 and Plasch grabbing 84.

The Beavers lost some of their top points earners in the off season. Most notable was the team’s leader in points, field goals and free throws Alyssa Hill. The Beavers will meet Hill and her new team Northern Michigan Saturday.
