Women’s Basketball begins NSIC play at UMC and MiSU

Beaver Hoops travels to Crookston and Minot for the first NSIC series of the season

Bemidji State University Women’s Basketball travels to Crookston, Minn. and Minot, N.D. this weekend to take on the University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles and Minot State University Beavers. Tipoff for Friday’s game in Crookston is set for 5:30 p.m. with Saturday’s tipoff in Minot set for 3:30 p.m.

Bemidji State holds the series lead against Minnesota Crookston with a record of 29-25. After going on a six-game winning streak lasting from Dec. 2, 2019 until Jan. 2, 2022, the Beavers dropped three matchups to the Golden Eagles. Most recently, BSU grabbed a win in Crookston on Feb. 8, 2024, 87-70. In 30 games against Minot State, Bemidji State has claimed 14 wins, including the most recent matchup on Feb. 1, 2024 in Minot, 77-63. In the past nine games, the Beavers have earned eight wins, dropping just one game in December of last season by 12 points.

The Beavers sit at 2-2 overall after an almost two-week break. BSU started its season with a pair of losses in Michigan but returned home to take down University of Minnesota Morris and Valley City State University in late November.

Senior forward Ella Giorgi leads the Beavers with 39 points this season, averaging 9.8 per game with 5.0 rebounds per game. Just behind her is Tieryn Plasch with 36 points and 11 rebounds with an average of 9.0 points per game.

Plasch is also the team’s assist leader with 12 so far this season, averaging three per game.

Erin Barrette has marked the team high in steals with six. She has earned 21 points in her four starts with 11 defensive rebounds and eight assists.
