Beavers host Wolves and Dragons for weekend double header
BSU Hoops set to host NSU and MSUM for double header Friday and Saturday
Bemidji State University Women’s Basketball hosts Northern State University and Minnesota State University Moorhead Friday and Saturday for the second Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference series of the season.
The Beavers will look to get back into the win column starting with a 5:30 p.m. tipoff Friday against the Wolves. The Wolves hold the upper hand in the duo’s all-time series, 66-11. Most recently, BSU fell to NSU 64-50 and has lost the last five meetings. Against MSUM, BSU is 43-75 with the most recent meeting adding a tally to the win column as BSU defeated MSUM 65-54 back in February.
The Beavers enter the weekend after dropping two games to University of Minnesota Crookston and Minot State University. The Beavers took the Golden Eagles into overtime, but fell 69-63 in the overtime period while they dropped the Battle of the Beavers 57-47.
Sophomore captain Tieryn Plasch leads the Beavers with 61 points this season, averaging 10.2 per game with 3.7 rebounds per game.
Plasch is also the top three-point shooter for BSU with a .467 three-point shooting percentage and is at .432 on field goals.
Against Minnesota Crookston, Janette Hanni set the team’s single-game season high with 19 points and eight field goals made. Erin Barrette also set a single-game season high in free throws made with seven makes on 11 attempts.
The Beavers average 60.2 points per game with a .391 field-goal shooting percentage and .280 shooting percentage at the three-point line.
Following the weekend, the Beavers host St. Cloud State University on Dec. 19 for Ugly Sweater Night followed by a trip to Bismarck, N.D. to close out the first half of the season.
