Bemidji State University Women’s Basketball prepares for two Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference games this week to close out the 2024 portion of the season. The Beavers host St. Cloud State University Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the BSU Gymnasium and head to Bismarck, N.D. Saturday to take on the University of Mary Marauders.

BSU to compete in two NSIC matches prior to Winter break
Beavers set to host St. Cloud State and travel to UMary Thursday and Saturday, respectively
Bemidji State University Men’s Basketball hosts St. Cloud State University Thursday at the BSU Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m. then heads on the road to University of Mary for a 3:30 p.m. tipoff Saturday.
The Beavers and Huskies have met a total of 158 times since their initial competition in 1922. The Beavers are 4-1 in the last five games, taking the most recent game 103-102 after two overtime periods on Dec. 16, 2023. As for the Marauders and Beavers, UMary leads 19-17 with BSU taking four of the last five meetings. Bemidji State is currently on a three-game win streak over UMary.
The Beavers enter the weekend at 4-6 with the 11th-place spot in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Last weekend, the Beavers split a series against Northern State University and Minnesota State University Moorhead with a win against the Wolves.
Bemidji State is averaging 75.5 points per game with a 46.3 shooting percentage in the field and 33.6 shooting percentage from the three-point arc. The team has averaged 8.5 three-pointers per game and 11 free throws made.
Malang Athian is BSU’s leading scorer with 137 total points at 13.7 per game. He is shooting at 46.8% from the field and 77.1% from the free-throw line. He’s also totaled 12 assists and 46 rebounds.
Tate Olson is the Beavers’ leading rebounder with 87 this season, averaging 8.7 per game. He also leads the team in assists with 35, nine more than his next-closest teammate.
Daxton Dayley leads the Beavers in scoring during NSIC matchups with 55 points at an average of 13.8 points per game.
Following this week, the Beavers take a small break before hosting Wayne State College and Augustana University Jan. 3 and 4 at the BSU Gymnasium.
Thursday’s game will have some extra holiday fun for fans in attendance. Fans are encouraged to wear ugly holiday sweaters to celebrate the season with the ugliest sweater winning a prize from Deerwood Bank. Additionally, fans can expect holiday themed halftime entertainment and much more!
After falling to Northern State University and Minnesota State University Moorhead last weekend, the Beavers sit at 2-6 overall with four losses in NSIC competition. The team started on this four-game losing streak after falling to University of Minnesota Crookston 69-63 in overtime Dec. 6 in Crookston.
Tieryn Plasch has taken the top scoring spot for the Beavers, grabbing 72 points with 26 rebounds and 15 assists in eight games.
Ella Giorgi and Aubrey Heyer lead Bemidji State in rebounding with Giorgi grabbing 34 and Heyer just behind at 33. The pair has garnered a quarter of the Beavers rebounds just between themselves.
Three Beavers hold double digit assist numbers with Erin Barrette grabbing the number one spot at 21 assists. Tieryn Plasch and Sage Ganyo follow behind with 15 and 10 each, respectively.
Following this week’s events, the Beavers will have a short break before starting NSIC competition back up on January 3. BSU hosts Wayne State College and Augustana University on Jan. 3 and 4 in Bemidji.
