Women’s Basketball starts 2025 with games against WSC and AU
Beavers open the year with Wildcats and Vikings at home
Bemidji State University Women’s Basketball starts off the 2025 portion of the season with hosting Wayne State College and Augustana University Friday and Saturday. Friday’s game is set for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff and Saturday’s at 3:30 p.m.
The Beavers and Wildcats have met a total of 52 times since the series began in February of 1993. WSC holds the advantage of 37-15 with BSU holding a .288 winning percentage. Versus the Vikings, the Beavers sit at a 3-22 deficit with a 1-4 record in the past five games.
Bemidji State sits at 3-7 overall with a 1-5 record in NSIC play. Prior to the break, BSU split a weekend against St. Cloud State University and University of Mary, marking its third win of the season with a 78-74 victory over the Huskies.
Tieryn Plasch has quickly made her way up the ranks in scoring with 102 points, leading teammates by over 25 points. Plasch is third in the NSIC for three-point field goals made per game. Behind her, Rachel Koenig has averaged a team high 10.6 points per game with a total of 74.
Recent games have helped propel Aubrey Heyer to the Beavers’ top rebounding spot with 42 total, 37 on defense.
BSU’s steal and assist game is dominated by Erin Barrette with 12 steals and 26 assists over 10 games. She has also added 73 points to the Beavers’ scoreboard with a .351 shooting percentage from the field and .583 from the free-throw line.
Following this weekend, the Beavers go on the road for a two-weekend stretch. They’ll make stops in Mankato and Winona on Jan. 10 and 11, then head to Duluth and St. Paul the following weekend.
The Beavers are back in Bemidji on Jan. 24 and 25 to host Southwest Minnesota State University and University of Sioux Falls, respectively.
