Bemidji State marks multiple top-five finishes at Cobber Open
BSU Track and Field landed numerous top-five finishes at Saturday’s Cobber Open
The Bemidji State University Track and Field team finished the Cobber Open, hosted by Concordia College, with 12 top-five rankings.
On the field side of the day, Mikenna Pattrin and Maya Wagner took first and fifth, respectively, in the weight throw finals. Pattrin landed farthest throw of 16.14 meters, just 0.1 meter shy of being a full meter farther than her next closest opponent. Pattrin also finished third in shot put at 12.10 meters, 0.03 farther than her teammate in fourth place, Trista Bilden. Olivia Olson grabbed third in the pole vault finals with a 3.17-meter vault.
On the track, the 4×400 relay team of Josie Aitken, Makenna Frazier, Hailey Selly and Kylee Morton finished fourth with a time of 4:29.96. Reese Turner took the fifth spot in the 200-meter day at 28.52 seconds. Olivia Olson took to the track as well as the field events, grabbing third in the 60-meter dash with an 8.12-second time. Finally, the Beavers dominated the one-mile race with Sophie Rylance taking first, 5:22.80, Maggie McCarthy in second, 5:23.79 and Carol Miller in fifth at 5:28.91.
The Beavers will now head to Collegeville, Minn. next Friday for the CSB/SJU Open hosted by College of St. Benedict. They’ll then go west to Fargo, N.D. on Feb. 7 and 8 for the NDSU Bison Open.
