Bemidji State University Football hosts No. 9/13 Augustana University Saturday at 1 p.m. at Chet Anderson Stadium. The Beavers remain winless after three weeks of competition and look to finally earn their first win this weekend.
The Beavers remain winless three weeks into the season with a 0-2 record in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
BSU dropped last Saturday’s home opener to the University of Sioux Falls, 56-23. They allowed 21 straight points in the first half before a touchdown pass from Connor Carver to Sam Kanne earned a change to the scoreboard.
Carver leads the Beaver rushing attack with 201 net yards and two rushing touchdowns. Last weekend, Justin Incaprera and Antonio Brown joined in on the scoring with each grabbing a rushing touchdown against USF.
Carver also leads as the starting quarterback for BSU, going 26 for 48 through the air with no interceptions and 238 passing yards with two touchdowns. His top receivers have been new transfers Zavery Guerra and Imarion Kelly who each have 86 yards on five and seven receptions, respectively.
Taking sixth in the NCAA and second in the NSIC, Caden Bolte leads the Beaver Defense with 20 solo tackles (21 total). He has also marked four pass breakups, one quarterback hurry and two tackles for a loss of three yards.
Also making the top NCAA ranks is specialist Connor Mantelli who is tied for first in the NCAA and NSIC for field-goal percentage as well as first in the conference for field goals per game. He has sent a perfect three-for-three through the uprights with a longest kick of 37 yards last weekend.
Next week, the Beavers head back on the road to take on Minot State University in the annual Battle of the Beavers. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. in Minot, N.D. and the game is available for streaming on the NSIC Network and for listening on the Beaver Radio Network with Kevin Reid on the call.
