Beavers open regular season at Vikings
BSU travels to Valley City, N.D. Friday for first regular-season matchup of the season

Bemidji State University Women’s Basketball travels to Valley City, N.D. Friday to take on the Valley City State University Vikings at 6 p.m. to open the regular season.

Bemidji State enters the weekend for the first regular-season matchup of their schedule. The Beavers took on North Central University and Augsburg University in exhibition play last week, defeating both teams 93-67 and 92-56, respectively.

The Beavers selected five upperclassmen to start during exhibition play with returners Aubrey Heyer, Ashlynne Guenther and Tieryn Plasch, along with new transfers Caron and Tiffany Liddie, earning the start in both games.

In exhibition play, senior forward Kassandra Caron led the team with 33 points and 18 rebounds, grabbing a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds against Augsburg on Nov. 8.

The Beaver bench has been a driving force for the team in exhibition play, marking 88 points split evenly between the two games. Additionally, the Beavers have marked 32 points off turnovers, 18 on fast breaks and 26 on second-chase putbacks.

After this trip to North Dakota, the Beavers return to the BSU Gymnasium Monday evening to host the University of Minnesota Morris Cougars. They’ll then head back on the road to Duluth, Minn. to kick off Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action against the University of Minnesota Duluth at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 25. BSU takes a trip to Florida for the University of Tampa Thanksgiving Classic during Thanksgiving break before returning home to fully get into conference action by hosting Minnesota State University Moorhead Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
