Beavers kick off indoor season at Dakota Alumni Classic
BSU’s indoor season starts ahead of winter break
Bemidji State University Track and Field kicks off its 2025-26 indoor season with a trip to Fargo, N.D. for the annual Dakota Alumni Classic, hosted by North Dakota State University Thursday.
The event begins at noon Thursday with the weight throw, followed by shot put. Both throwing events will run men first then women. Starting next, the pole vault is slated for 3 p.m. with the women kicking things off. Events then move to the track with the 60-meter hurdles and dash preliminaries starting at 4:30 p.m. Action on the jump runways start at 5 p.m. with long jump and high jump. Triple jump is set to follow long jump. Back on the track, the 600-meter run is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. followed by finals for the 60-meter hurdles and dash. Longer distances start at 5:40 p.m. with the 400-meter dash, followed by the 800 then the 200. Rounding out the evening, the one-mile run is slated for 7:10 p.m. followed by the 3,000-meter and the 4×400-meter relay.
The Beavers enter the weekend ranked 12th in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll. Highlighted this season as Athletes to Watch were distance runner Maggie McCarthy and thrower Trista Bilden. Following this weekend, the Beavers will enjoy winter break before getting into the full stretch of meet action Jan. 17 at the Twin Ports Invite, hosted by University of Wisconsin-Superior. Indoor NSIC Championships are scheduled for Feb. 27 and 28 in Mankato, Minn.
