Beavers prepare for third nationally recognized opponent of 2026
Bemidji State University Football gets back on the road Saturday as the Beavers travel to take on (RV/19) Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D. Kickoff Saturday is scheduled for 6 p.m. from Dacotah Bank Stadium and is available for streaming on Midco Sports and listening through the Beaver Radio Network.
Bemidji State enters the weekend with a 2-3 record, 2-2 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conferece, after a historic Homecoming victory over Minot State.
Last weekend, junior quarterback Connor Carver set the program record for rushing yards in a single game with 335. He overcame the previous record, set in 1987 by Bemidji State University Football Hall of Fame member John Gronski, by 16 yards. Additionally, Carver was one score away from tying the program’s single-game record for rushing touchdowns scored (5), scoring four of the Beavers’ five touchdowns. Carver’s performance against Minot State earned him the NSIC’s Offensive Player of the Week nod, along with CFB Network Division II Offensive Player of the Week honors.
The Beavers now average 193.8 yards on the ground per game, scoring 15 touchdowns and averaging 4.6 yards per carry. Jayden Washington follows Carver with 175 net rushing yards and three touchdowns this season.
The Gang Green Defense is led by senior defensive back Caden Bolte again this season as he has amassed 23 solo and 12 assisted tackles, for a total of 35. Bolte adds a breakup, a hurry and a fumble recovery to that stat line as well. His fumble recovery came before even five minutes were off the clock last weekend, picking up a misplayed lateral on the MSU 24.
Kyle Nadler and the Beaver special teams unit have grabbed 24 points for BSU this season. Nadler has gone 3-4 on field goals and totaled 15 made PAT kicks. He is second on the team, behind Carver, in scoring.
Next weekend, the Beavers return home for the annual Lion’s Club Game, this year against (RV) Wayne State College at 1 p.m. They will then have a bye week before traveling to the University of Jamestown Oct. 24
