Cross Country Seventh Last Weekend

Sophomore Emily Turner (Bringham Lake, Minn.) finished 25th at the Randy Smith Invitational Friday to lead the Bemidji State University cross country team. The Beavers finished seventh in the race, which took place at Ponderosa Golf Club in Glyndon, Minn.

The event, hosted by Minnesota State University Moorhead, was a 5,000-meter race and saw seven teams compete with 79 runners.

Turner posted a time of 20 minutes and nine seconds to finish 25th. Freshman Nikki Szech (Long Prairie, Minn.) came in 41st with a time of 20:56. The Beavers had three runners finish consecutively 51st through 53rd and were separated by just two seconds. Sophomore Jolynne Denman (Esko, Minn.) and junior Emily Paquin (Coon Rapids, Minn.) crossed together with a time of 21:24, while sophomore Samantha Taube (Fairbanks, Alaska) recorded a time of 21:26.

Next on schedule is the 27th Annual Roy Griak Invitational Sept. 28 in St. Paul, Minn.
