The Bemidji State University cross country team was guided by freshman Nikki Szech (Long Prairie, Minn.) Friday at the Jimmie Invitational. The Beavers finished sixth in the 5,000-meter race, hosted by University of Jamestown.
Szech posted a time of 21 minutes and 18 seconds to finish 25th. Sophomore Mikayla Connell (Bemidji, Minn.) crossed the finish line at 21:45 to finish 32nd. Four Beavers finished within six seconds of each other to all post a top 40 finish.
The Beavers recorded a total time of 1:49:00 to finish six out of six in the invite, which included two Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference teams in Minnesota State University Moorhead (finished first) and Northern State University (finished second).
The race is the final tune-up for the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship, a 6,000-meter race, held Oct. 26 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
