The Beavers lead the NSIC North with a 9-3 record (12-4 overall) after sweeping a league home weekend. The Beavers defeated Minnesota State University Moorhead 77-71 Friday before they posted an 85-77 victory against Northern State University, two teams they were tied with for the NSIC North lead entering the weekend. BSU has won five straight (longest active win streak in the NSIC entering weekend) and are 6-1 in its last seven games. During the last seven games, BSU is shooting 57.4 percent and averaging 88.4 points per game. Junior Brock Lutes ranks second in the NSIC in scoring (19.2 ppg), while senior Maxie Rosenbloom leads the league in rebounding (9.3 rpg) and field goal percentage (63.4%) and senior Jake Schalow leads the conference in 3-point percentage (54.8%).
The Beavers are on a five-game win streak, the second longest under head coach Mike Boschee. BSU rattled off six straight last season to make an appearance in the NSIC Tournament Championship. The last seven-game win streak came Jan. 22-Feb. 18, 2005.
In the five-game winning streak, the Beavers are averaging 86.0 points per game and allowing 72.4 points per game, shooting 57.4 percent from the field, 47.3 percent from beyond the arc and 82.0 percent from the free throw line and averaging 16.6 assists per contest. Four players are scoring in double-figures, led by Brock Lutes’ 25.0 points per game. Zach Noreen owns 17.8 points per game and is shooting 62.5 percent. Jake Schalow is 11-for-20 (55%) from long range with 14.8 points per game and Maxie Rosenbloom owns 12 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.
