Led by a seven-over-par 151 by Aaron Leintz (Fr., Bagley, Minn.), the Bemidji State University men’s golf team placed eighth at the Upper Iowa University Invitational at Quail Run in Columbus, Neb. April 5-6.
Leintz followed a six-over-par 78 with a 73 (+1) to finish in a tie for tenth individually, seven strokes off the pace set by Concordia University-St. Paul’s Adam Petterson (72-72–144/E) and lead the Beavers.
Bemidji State trimmed 17 strokes from its day one 320 (+32), to card a 303 (+15) and finish the 36-hole event at 47 over par (623).
After firing a 303 (+15) on day 1 to take a three-stroke lead into day two, St. Cloud State University carded a day two low 293 (+5) to run away with the team title. The Huskies finished with a six-stroke lead over Concordia-St. Paul.
The Beavers next shift their focus to the NSIC Spring Championship. The final 36 holes of the unique 72-hole event will be played at Tiburon Golf Course in Omaha, Neb. April 12-13. BSU opens the spring portion of the league championship tied for sixth, 44 stokes behind tournament leader St. Cloud State. Leintz leads all BSU players tied for 14th, 11 shots off the pace set by SCSU’s Tyler Koivisto (+2), at 13-over-par (157).
