Bemidji State University junior Emily Turner (Bringham Lake, Minn.) was selected as a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Cross Country Athlete to Watch in 2014 as a part of the league’s annual preseason coaches’ poll. The Beavers were picked to finish 15th.
The Beavers received 23 votes to hold down the 15th spot in the poll, led by defending NSIC and regional team champion Minnesota Duluth, which garnered 196 points and 14 of 15 first place votes. Augustana College picked up the remaining first place vote to finish second in the poll with 182 points. Winona State University settled into the third spot for the second consecutive season with 161 points.
Under the direction of head coach Craig Hougen, the Bemidji State cross country team lifts the lid on its 2014 campaign Sept. 5 when it hosts the Greenwood Run at Greenwood Golf Course. The race is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
