The Bemidji State men’s hockey team has a daunting non-conference schedule this year. A home-and-home with #2 North Dakota, a trip to #1 Minnesota, plus games with St Cloud State, and the North Star Cup with either Minnesota or MSU-Mankato and Duluth.

The Beavers started the season Friday night in Grand Forks taking on North Dakota. The Beavers haven’t won in Grand Forks since 1970…long before any of the current players were born. BSU pressured UND all night, leading to countless turnovers, and leading to a 5-1 win. Brendan Harms scored twice, Markus Gerbrandt, Sam Rendle and Charlie O’Connor also scored. Freshman Michael Bitzer, in his collegiate debut, got the win in goal.

Game #2 of the series is tonight at 7:70pm at the Sanford Center in Bemidji. The Benusa Pregame Show starts at 6:30pm on the Beaver Radio Network.
