Hillary Arechigo (F, Jr., Monticello, Minn.) scored three goals, while Raquel Thelen (F, Fr., Andover, Minn.), Sarah Stram (F, So., Elk Grove Village, Ill.) and Anna Sivanich (D, So., Maple Grove, Minn.) each posted two assists to lead the Bemidji State University soccer team to a 6-0 victory at University of Sioux Falls Sunday.
Bemidji State opened the scoring just 2:23 after the opening kick when Christine Szurek (M, So., Andover, Minn.) netted her third goal of the season on passes from Thelen and Stram. Thelen’s first assist of the game extended her point streak to four matches. Since Oct. 4, Thelen has one goal and five assists.
Bayley Ertl (So., F, North Branch, Minn.) added to the Beavers’ lead when she directed a cross from Thelen into the net during the 24th minute of play.
BSU’s six-goal output was its largest since a 7-0 victory over Northwestern College (Iowa), Sept. 4, 2009.
The Beavers improve to 5-6-0 overall and 4-4-0 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.
Bemidji State, which is now 5-6-1 overall and 4-4-1 in NSIC play, has outscored its opponents 12-2 to remain unbeaten during its least three matches (2-0-1).
