The Bemidji State University volleyball team hits the road for a mid-week Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference clash with rival University of Minnesota Crookston. The first serve between BSU (5-18 overall, 3-12 NSIC) and UMC (10-13 overall, 4-11 NSIC) is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday.
BSU is coming off its first road win of the season Saturday at University of Mary, 3-2. It was the first five-set win for the Beavers since Nov. 15, 2013 against Upper Iowa University.
Minnesota Crookston is led by senior Brittany Looker, who paces the squad in kills (360), service aces (30) and digs (230). In addition to Looker, Mary Mikutowski leads the Golden Eagles in digs per set (3.95), while Erin Schwarz is UMC’s leading blocker (0.96 blocks/set).
Series History: BSU owns a 20-15 all-time record against Minnesota Crookston. However, UMC has won the last six meetings between the two schools including a 3-0 sweep of the Beavers earlier this season in Bemidji, Minn. BSU’s last win the series came Sept. 17, 2011 in Bemidji and its last win in Crookston came Sept. 18, 2010.
