Bemidji State University forward Nate Arentz has been selected for Western Collegiate Hockey Association Player of the Week honors after leading the BSU scoring attack in a series sweep of University of Alaska Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.
Arentz led BSU to a WCHA-opening sweep of Alaska, posting three goals and two assists for five points. Arentz was on the ice for five of the Beavers’ goals in a 6-1 win Friday, posting his first multi-point night of the year with a game-winning goal and an assist. He followed that up with a career-high three points in Saturday’s 4-3 overtime victory, contributing two goals and an assist on the game-winning goal. The Lakeville, Minn. native finished the week with a +6 plus/minus rating and a pair of blocked shots.
The Beavers, now 3-3-0 overall and 2-0-0 in WCHA play, hit the road to face the league’s preseason favorite in Minnesota State University, Mankato (5-3-0; 3-1-0 WCHA) Nov. 7-8. The series will get underway from Verizon Wireless Center at 7:07 p.m. Friday, with the opening faceoff for the series finale set for 7:07 p.m. Saturday.
