The Bemidji State University men’s ice hockey team is back from a two-point trip to Alaska to host Northern Michigan University for a Western Collegiate Hockey Association series. The Beavers, now 4-10-2 overall and 2-6-2 in league play, hope to use the final weekend before break to gain points and make a move in the WCHA standings.
Despite combining for over 3,100 games and 1,700 victories dating back to the 1940s, the Beavers and Wildcats have gone head-to-head on just six occasions beginning in 2009. Northern Michigan owns a 3-2-1 edge in the all-time series with NMU after sweeping the series a year ago (Jan. 3-4) at Sanford Center. The Wildcats opened the series with a 4-1 victory and wrapped up the series sweep with a 3-1 win the following night. BSU is 1-3-0 all-time when hosting the Wildcats, with its only win coming Nov. 27, 2010, 3-0.
